Thorntons could be broken up

Chocolate retailer Thorntons could be broken up by Icelandic Baugur, which is in early stage of talks to buy the company. If Baugur succeeds it plans to sell the Derbyshire factory. Thorntons has issued two profits warnings and is struggling to against stiff competition from the supermarkets. Bauger is expected to offer 164p per share valuing the business at £110m.
