Tiscali may sell UK internet operations to BSkyB

BSkyB Group Plc, satellite broadcasting giant, is in discussions with Tiscali, Italian internet broadband provider, over a deal worth £450m. BSkyB is interested in acquiring Tiscali's UK assets, which have also attracted Virgin Media.Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone and BT were also interested but have pulled out of the auction. Vodafone had been interested in buying both Tiscali's British and Italian broadband operations.Tiscali has 2.4m broadband subscribers in the UK, making it the country's fourth-biggest broadband provider.
