Woolworths has acquired Total Home Entertainment Distribution (THE), the wholesaler of entertainment products, from 3i for £20m. THE will now form part of Woolworths' Entertainment UK division alongside 2Entertain and Streets Online. In a statement, Woolworths said that the acquisition would enhance Entertainment UK's capability in books wholesaling, give it entry into the primary distribution market, and strengthen its existing client list in the wholesale distribution of entertainment products. THE's clients include Sainsbury's, with whom a new agreement has just been reached, Music Zone and Fopp, as well as independent retailers.
