Trinity Mirror could sell Scottish Newspapers
07/08/2006
UK publisher Trinity Mirror could dispose of just its Scottish newspapers. A Numis analyst has said it would not be easy to divide the north-of-the-border titles from the rest but said such a sale could not be ruled out as chief executive Sly Bailey had spelt out that all options would be considered. The Scottish papers are The Scottish Mirror, the Daily Record and the Sunday Mail. Together, Trinity's national titles have a value of £700m while the regional newspapers are worth £1.2bn and sports papers £130m, the report said, citing analysts. It also pointed out that the group has a pensions deficit of £230m and debt of £530m.
