Turnberry golf resort has been put up for sale by owner Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the US-listed leisure company. Starwood is said to be seeking an "investment partner" for the Westin Turnberry Resort. The resort, located in Scotland, includes 300 acres of as yet undeveloped land. A potential sale price of £100m has been estimated for Turnberry, which was bought by Starwood ten years ago for approximately £32m. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels has been hired to to advise on the sale. According to reports, Starwood may insist on retaining a management contract for Turnberry, or is prepared to keep a minority shareholding in the resort.
