Unilever's frozen food business under review.
22/08/2005
Unilever has appointed Goldman Sachs to conduct a strategic review of its frozen food business. Unilever is believed to have appointed the US-based investment bank to conduct a review, which could lead to a full or partial sale of the assets. Alternatively, the review could recommend retaining the frozen-food division, which could fetch hundreds of millions of pounds. The frozen-food division includes brands such as Birds Eye fish fingers and Carte d'Or ice cream. The frozen food division's turnover declined by 3.4% from EUR 6.99bn (USD 8.49bn) in 2003 to EUR 6.63bn (USD 8.05bn) last year.
