Vivendi Universal has declined to comment on claims that it is preparing to give up majority control of Vivendi Environnement in the next two years. Rumours emerged after a report,in business daily Les Echos, stated that Vivendi would make a capital loss on a disposal under current market conditions due to a shareholder pact.
