Wyevale buys Sanders Garden World
03/09/2007
Scottish millionaire Sir Tom Hunter has extended his garden centre empire with the acquisition of Somerset-based Sanders Garden World, the South West's largest purpose-built garden centre, for £15m. The centre will be added to his Wyevale chain. He is also said to be negotiating a number of other purchases.
The purchases are expected to add 325m to group sales, as well as create a significant land bank for future development. Sanders will contribute significantly to the group’s presence in the South West, and has more than 30 acres suitable for expansion.
Additional investors in the deal include bank HBOS, Baugur and the Prestbury property investment vehicle.
