Wed, 12 Apr 2006: Polaron has sold Oxford Nanoscience to Imago Scientific Instruments of the US for £2.5m. With the acquisition, Imago now holds almost all of the worldwide patents for such instruments, said Imago president and chief executive Tim Stultz. Tue, 04 Apr 2006: Bekaert of Belgium has acquired Cold Drawn Products, the West Yorkshire-based wire manufacturer with 170 staff, for £12m. Cold Drawn Products (CDP) supplies its high carbon steel shaped wire product to the automotive and machine manufacturing sectors and exports all over the world, including China, Poland, Brazil, South Africa and the USA. CDP's Managing Director cited ambitions for further expansion into South America as a key reason for the sale. No jobs are expected to be cut and the staffing structure at CDP will remain unchanged.
