Jessops is to acquire MacKinnons of Dyce, the chain of 20 photography stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland, for £0.8m. 19 of the stores are located in Scotland, and the acquisition doubles Jessops' existing number of stores in the county to a total of 35. Jessops stated that all stores would be converted to the Jessops fascia and Spacemix format within six weeks, and that all 104 employees would be retained. Chris Langley, Jessops CEO, commented: "We are very pleased to have reached agreement to acquire these stores. It is in line with our store opening strategy and adds twenty stores in one move, taking our total to over 300 stores for the first time. More importantly, it considerably strengthens our presence in Scotland and builds on our position in Northern Ireland.
