Tue, 31 Mar 2009: Lloyds is considering selling some of its insurance businesses it inherited from HBOS. Deutsche Bank has been hired to examine its insurance operations. The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) has also been brought in to advise on which aspects of its insurance portfolio would be most suitable to be sold. There is speculation that Clerical Medical and Halifax Life, the businesses it took on as part of its takeover of HBOS, are to be lined up for a sale. The disposals would help towards the streamlining of the enlarged banking group....

The administrators, Mercer & Hole, are currently in discussions with the series manager to ascertain who will be in charge of Team GBR's cars for its next race in Portugal. The business has stopped operating, and 220 out of 228 employees have been made redundant. The remaining eight staff are assisting the administrators at KPMG with winding the business down....
