Notts County eager to secure deals and avoid administration

February 23rd, 2010 by Chris St Cartmail

Accountants are reportedly appraising Notts County Football Club’s accounts and evaluating strategic options for the organisation, which has been experiencing cash flow problems.

The club’s chairman Ray Trew insists that no decision has been made yet as to whether it will be put into administration. He added that the club wants to avoid administration for the sake of its investors.

Trew stated, “we want to avoid administration at all costs, because the people who would get hurt the most by this action would be the local businesses who support this football club.” He continued, “this club relies on the support of the community and it is my intention to do everything in our power to avoid damaging the strong ties that exist.”

He added that he understood that the fans must be feeling ”frustrated” about the situation and added that the club had already made headway in improving its financial situation. Trew explained, "we have been exploring every avenue in our search for a solution to the current financial problems at the club and we have already had some success to this end in reducing the out-goings significantly."

The club is still in high-level talks to secure sponsorship and commercial partnership deals for next season. Trew has now publically asked for “a while longer” in the hope that the administrators won’t be called in before the deals are complete.
