| UK Businesses For SaleSandwich Company, Eat, Considers a Sale
25/02/2008
The founders of Eat, the nationwide sandwich company, are considering a sale of the business.
Eat, a privately-owned chain, is believed to have set an asking price of £120m. The company is likely to begin inviting possible buyers to bid in the near future. Niall and Faith MacArthur founded the company in 1996, twelve years later, they now own 85 shops in the UK. The founders sold a 42% shareholding to 3i, the private equity group, which then sold its interest to Penta Capital, another buyout group. Penta and the MacArthurs each own 45% stakes in the business, with management holding the other 10%. |
