Food & Drink Group up for sale
18/07/2008

Food & Drink Group (FDG), owners of the Jamies wine bar chain, is to be sold in a pre-packaged administration which will cover some of the group's debt.

A month ago the company asked for its shares to be suspended while it continued talks with its banks and looked at sale options.

The company and its advisers are thought to be in discussions with several possible buyers. BDO Stoy Hayward is to handle the administration part of the sale.

One party is thought to be interested in purchasing all of the group's sites while others would rather take most, but not all of FDG's 30 bars, some of which trade under the Jamies and Henry J Beans brands.

It is understood that Agilo, the distressed debt specialist, and Novus Leisure, the Cognetas-backed bar group, are interested in the group.

Another option that FDG has been exploring is a reverse takeover of 3D Entertainment, the bar operator in which Luminar, the nightclub operator, has a 49 per cent stake. Stephen Thomas, the FDG chairman, is also chief executive of Luminar.
