Men's fashion clothes retailer, Base, have called in Leonard Curtis, to act as their administrators.
The family owned company, Granditer Menswear, which has most of its stores in the South East, has been established for a century. It has recently been suffering from reduced sales. Marc Granditer, the managing director, said the stores would remain open, nationwide for the time being but that due to "excessive competition" in the menswear sector, it has been forced into selling. "There's no question that over the past five months the market has been extremely difficult for [all] retailers, but especially in men's clothing, the market share has been really spread out." Neil Bennett, an administrator at Leonard Curtis, commented: "We are conducting an appraisal of the business with a view to establishing the level of interest in the stores."
