The Chelmsford Medical Centre (CMC) has been acquired from MedTel UK Ltd in a management buyout by the clinicians who practice there, it has been announced by Watersheds. All existing staff will continue to work for the new company.
Mr John Sutcliffe, a spinal neuro-surgeon and chairman of the London Spine Clinic, which was one of the founding members, is the new chairman of CMC. He has joined forces with existing clinical shareholders and a range of new clinicians to become the new owners.
CMC, which opened in February 2006, is a private multi-disciplinary medical centre. It offers a range of outpatient clinics, treatments and day case surgical options, all supported by onsite diagnostic imaging services. The clinic occupies a state-of-the-art town centre building where it has its own operating theatre and MRI scanner.
On completion of the deal John Sutcliffe said: "I anticipate that the way is now clear towards expanding the level and scope of services to our patients in Chelmsford, in Essex, and further afield. We were very greatly assisted by our advisers Watersheds who structured and negotiated the transaction for us and overcame the challenges that stood in its way."
