Shortly after selling a 20% stake in British Energy to Centrica in a £2.3bn deal, EDF is prepared to sell further stakes.
Pierre Gadonneix, chief executive of the French electricity group, reportedly said EDF might look for new investors for British Energy, its recently acquired business. EDF will not sell over 50% of the British energy business, said Gadonneix.
Selling the stakes would help to bring down the costs of the expensive purchase for EDF.
Centrica bought the stake at a 6% discount of the value of British Energy when EDF bought it a few months back.
The discount will not lead to any writedowns on the value of the UK nuclear business, it was reported.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch advised EDF, while Goldman Sachs advised Centrica. The two companies had been in discussions for months over the deal, after disagreements over the valuation.
