Haulage jobs at risk as EH Lee administrator looks for buyer
Mon, 08 Feb 2010

Haulage company EH Lee has fallen into administration, appointing Grant Thornton to try to find a buyer for at least part of the business.

The firm, which is a Palletways member, is thought to owe around half a million pounds to its creditors and has been forced to appoint the corporate insolvency specialist as a result.

Ian Carr, the partner and head of Grant Thornton’s haulage and logistics arm, said, "if possible, we would like to find a buyer for the waste management service side of the business.â€Â He continued, “we have had some interest already, and are looking to receive offers this week."

Carr added that although a third of the 71 staff, including two company directors, have already been made redundant, more job losses could be on the way. The firm is still being run at a “limited levelâ€Â at the moment.

The company employs people at its Peterborough head office and at its depots in Lincoln, South Yorkshire and Doncaster.

Palletways announced that its services will not be disrupted by the adminstration: "collections and deliveries made by EH Lee on behalf of Palletways are being covered by our member network to ensure that it is business as usual for customers."
