The Board of Heywood Williams, the UK building supplier, has decided to grow the Group by totally focusing on the design, development, marketing and distribution of branded building products. In a press release, the company announced that this decision follows a recently completed in-depth strategic review of the Plastic Systems Division. The Board has concluded that this division is non-core to the future development of the Group. The Board has therefore taken the decision to seek buyers for Plastic Systems, with the intention of exiting this business in 2005.
Plastic Systems, which is the UK market leader in PVC windows systems and cellular buildings products, reported sales of £63.5m in the year ended 31 December, 2004 (20% of Group sales). The Board has appointed Rothschild to advise it on the disposal process.
