PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed as administrators to the Lighthouse Trust, an arts and design centre.
The administrators are to assess viable options for the charitable organisation, which had cash flow problems after its main avenues of obtaining funds; including leasing its office and restaurant/bar space, conference and commercial events, and retail activities dried up due to reduced demand in the recession.
The charity had taken steps to lower its overhead costs, but due to a gap in funding was unable to carry out the plans.
The charity also received funding from the public sector for some of its projects, in addition to £100k for educational and exhibition programmes.
The Lighthouse Trust is situated in the famous Charles Rennie Mackintosh-designed building in Glasgow, and was opened by the Queen in 1999.
The centre has six floors, and features educational workshops, exhibition space, a shop and cafe. 57 people are employed at the centre.
The Lighthouse Trust works to deliver the Scottish government's Architecture Policy and Creative strategies locally and nationally, and also has a developing role in designing advocacy at all levels.
