The Mad O’Rourke’s Pie Factory in Tipton, West Midlands, has
entered administration not long after its outlets in Wordsley and Lower Gornal were sold on to new owners.
Administrators from PKF have been drafted in to manage the Mad O’Rourke’s Pie Factory in Hurst Lane, while its owner, Mad O’Rourke’s Ltd, is now being taken care of by Leonard Curtis.
The public house is to continue to operate while a buyer is sought, the administrators have confirmed. All 15 employees have been retained, says pub manager Deana Rowley.
PKF spokesperson Jane Murray said: “The pub closed due to difficulties recovering from the recession and the current economic conditions.”
Suffering from sliding takings and profits in the wake of the recession, the Wordsley and Lower Gornal pubs were handed to Marston’s Brewery at the end of June. The two sites were relaunched under different names and ownership in early July.
The Lower Gornal branch was taken over by former head chef Ian Butts under the new name of The Steak and Pie Factory, and the Wordsley site was placed in the hands of pub owner Liam O’Connell and reverted back to its original name of The Vine.
