Mergers and acquisitions on the up in Scotland

Wed, 22 Dec 2010

The number of mergers and acquisitions taking place in Scotland is soaring, according to one of the country's leading law firms.

McGrigors said that the rise in transaction levels is likely to indicate a new trend towards more corporate acquisitions and consolidation throughout 2011.

Partner at McGrigors, Barry McCaig, said that M&A activity is not only proof of rising business confidence but also a 'huge motivation' for business owners to strive for future growth.

Some of the largest transactions have included West Coast Capital's sale of shoe chain Office for £150 million and Dieselec Generators' takeover of Thistle Generators.
