Scottish marketing agency Avian has been purchased in a management buyout after 18 months of planning for the move.
Avian was first established following a management buyout of Dundee agency Baillie Marshall in the 1990s, which was led by outgoing MD George Gall. Avian's clients now include Senergy, Lloyds TSB Scotland, Waste Aware Scotland and Walkers Shortbread.
Following Gall's retirement, Scott McCallum, who was previously client services director at the company, will take over the role. McCallum is now the majority shareholder in the business, alongside production editor David Ednie and creative director Alasdair Chisholm. Gall will continue to work with the firm on a consultancy basis.
McCallum has said that he plans to retain all 25 employees along with the full portfolio of clients.
He said, “Avian is an important player in the marketing industry in Scotland and this is testament to George’s creativity and hard work over the years, building the company to where it is today."
"We have been planning this over the last 18 months as George has approached his retirement - although he will continue to be involved in the business supporting us as a consultant."
"I am delighted to be leading the team along with my colleagues David and Alasdair and we have ambitious future plans for the agency, which will build on our design and digital credentials,” McCallum added.
