According to media reports, The Belfry, a renowned golf venue in Birmingham, has recently gone on the market.
The owners say they are confident that the commercial property will receive significant interest from potential buyers.
The venue has been host to four Ryder cups as well as numerous European Tour events. It includes three
golf courses and a hotel with over 300 bedrooms. Last year The Belfry was named England’s Leading Golf Resort at the World Travel Awards.
The current owners told The Birmingham Post that The Belfry is a “highly profitable business” and enjoyed a healthy financial year in 2011, with profits up on 2010. They added that the team at the resort is experienced and that an “encouraging pipeline” of business has been built up for the coming months.
George Nicholas, of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, the commercial property agent marketing the venue, told The Birmingham Post, “The Belfry is an iconic golf destination; combining an internationally recognised brand with a successfully trading business, and quality sales of this nature rarely come to the market. We expect significant international interest to be attracted among buyers from across the globe as investors bid to secure this rare opportunity.”
He added that the property was attracting international interest, particularly from Asia, with investors looking to take advantage of the low British pound.
