Construction materials group Ensor Holdings has put its timber and fencing business Hawkins-Salmon Ltd into administration after a prolonged spell of poor performance.
Paul Stanley and Jason Greenhalgh of Begbies Traynor have been brought in to the troubled business.
Ensor’s other businesses are continuing to trade normally, despite the appointment of administrators to Hawkins-Salmon.
A partial relocation of the operations from Northamptonshire to Cheshire is said to have caused the problems at Hawkins-Salmon, along with the current turbulence in the economic climate and management issues.
The slowdown in the construction market was the deciding factor for the directors of Hawkins-Salmon to place the division into administration.
The profits of the whole group were impacted, with half-year operating losses of £198k comparing with a profit of £1.1m the previous year.
Hawkins-Salmon is, according to Ensor chairman Ken Harrison, the only loss-making arm out of the group.
