A historic water mill has gone on sale on eBay as the owner tries to repay debts.
Mike Kilgannon, 68, has invested over £700,000 into Rossett Water Mill over the past four decades. It is now a popular tourist attraction. However, due to mortgage debts he has decided to sell the Grade II listed building.
The property, which comes with a two-storey coach house and 7.5 acres of land next to the River Alwyn, is on eBay for £1.25 million.
Mr Kilgannon told WalesOnline, I had a friend in London who successfully bought a mill on eBay, so I just thought ‘Oh well, we’ll see what happens with it’. These days you have to go global with these things.”
Mr Kilgannon said the mill is “my life” and having restored it he holds open days for the public and schools and also sells homemade flour produced at the mill to restaurants and pubs in the nearby communities. He said as many as 1,000 people have been known to visit the mill over a three-day period.
Although he is selling the mill, Mr Kilgannon said he would like to see the mill stay in use under the new owner and has offered to run the place for them or show them how to make flour so that the business can continue.
