Wave of UK acquisitions activity expected

A report by KPMG predicts a wave of acquisitions activity this year. Overseas companies like Kraft are taking advantage of the relatively weak pound to buy up businesses in the UK.

The improved stability in credit markets is an important factor in domestic acquisitions and analysts are expecting more trade sales as companies return to profitability.

Technology and consumer goods companies are tipped to be particularly active, as many have strong balance sheets and cash reserves.
