Thu, 19 Feb 2026 | ADMINISTRATION
A London-headquartered construction contractor that has been operating since the late 19th century is set to fall into administration. Jerram Falkus Construction has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators after the company’s sites suddenly closed earlier this week.
In accounts for the year to July 31 2024, Jerram Falkus Construction Limited reported turnover of £47.6 million, up from £45 million a year earlier. Having fallen to an operating loss of around £6.3 million the previous year, the company cut its operating losses to £55,000 and recorded a pre-tax profit of £37,000.
At the time, the company said its 2023 performance had been “reflective of an incredibly difficult period for the construction industry”, with results affected by pre-inflation fixed-price contracts and project delays that impacted post-inflation-priced contracts.
The company had been engaged in a number of major ongoing projects, including the construction of 62 new council homes in Bow for Tower Hamlets Council and a new Passivhaus learning centre in Kew Gardens, due to complete later this year.
Spokespeople for Tower Hamlets Council and Kew Gardens confirmed that both organisations are aware of the development. The Tower Hamlets Council spokesperson said: “We are currently assessing the implications of the situation and planning next steps. Our priority is ensuring these muchâneeded homes are delivered, and we remain committed to progressing the project.”
A notice on the company’s website states that it is “temporarily down for maintenance”, while its social media profiles are no longer available. A supplier quoted in a report from industry publication Construction Enquirer said that the gates of a Jerram Falkus site were locked when they arrived to make a delivery on Monday, February 16.
Founded in 1884, Jerram Falkus Construction operates across London and the South East, working on projects from £2 million to £40 million. The company specialises in new-build and refurbishment projects, but has also delivered modular housing builds.
Operating from central London offices in Shoreditch, the company employed an average of 63 full-time staff according to its most recent accounts.
In those accounts, the company’s fixed assets were valued at around £1 million and current assets at £26.7 million, with net assets amounting to approximately £7.1 million.
