Administrators are seeking buyers for the assets, including plant and machinery, of a North Yorkshire glazing manufacturer, following the company’s collapse earlier this month. Scarborough-based Senior Glass Systems Limited fell into administration on June 18 2026.
Operating from a 40,000 sq ft Scarborough manufacturing site, the company was a manufacturer of sealed glass units, employing 27 staff.
However, the company had faced cashflow challenges as a result of increased costs and significant downward pressure on price, ultimately leading to it falling into administration.
Prior to the appointment of administrators, an accelerated sale process was undertaken in an effort to find a buyer for the business as a going concern. Despite generating “strong interest”, this process failed to result in any suitable offers.
As a result, the business was placed into administration and ceased trading, with all employees made redundant.
One of the joint administrators for Senior Glass Systems said that the collapse of such a “respected, long established and historically successful business” was “indicative of the current challenges within the commercial glass sector, which faces significant downward pressure on price alongside increased costs such as National Minimum Wage, National Insurance and energy supplies.”
While the “accelerated, wide reaching sale process” did not result in the rescue of the business as a going concern, the joint administrator added that they would “welcome contact from any parties who may be interested in the company's desirable plant and machinery and other assets, which will now be sold.”
In accounts for the year to June 30 2025, Senior Glass Systems Limited’s fixed assets were valued at slightly more than £1 million and current assets at £1.8 million, while net assets amounted to approximately £359,000.
