Administrators are exploring sale and restructuring opportunities for a Falkirk-based operator of a waste management facility and landfill site. Avondale Environmental Limited fell into administration earlier this month, following increasing cashflow pressures and rising costs.
James Stephen and Kerry Bailey of BDO LLP were appointed as joint administrators of the company on September 2 2025 and are now exploring options for the future of the business, including the possibility of a sale.
Avondale Environmental, which also trades as Avondale Landfill, has operated since 2000 and has gained recognition from local authorities and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for its commitment to waste treatment and management.
The company’s services include: the disposal of municipal, commercial, non-hazardous and hazardous waste, including asbestos; the treatment of low-grade contaminated soils; site clearance, vegetation management, tree work and weed control, especially in high-risk environments; and the generation of renewable power from landfill gas.
The joint administrators have said they will continue to explore sale and restructuring opportunities over the coming days and urged parties interested in acquiring the business to lodge their interest with them as soon as possible.
Joint administrator James Stephen commented: “The Company has historically been profitable and provides unique services in the sector in particular with regard to hazardous waste. We are keen to engage with interested parties as soon as possible to explore this opportunity.”
In the year to March 31 2024, Avondale Environmental Limited reported turnover of £23.5 million, down from £33.4 million the previous year, while post-tax losses dipped slightly from approximately £1.3 million to just under £1.1 million.
At the time, the company’s fixed assets were valued at around £13.5 million and current assets at £35.9 million, while total equity stood at approximately £30 million.
