The business and assets of a Nottingham-based print and finishing machinery firm are being put up for sale after it entered administration and ceased trading. Focus Label Machinery Limited fell into administration on July 27, with Sophie Murcott and Steven Currie of CY Group appointed as joint administrators.
Focus Label Machinery produced print and finishing machinery and ancillaries, including both narrow-web flexo and digital printers. The company sold into the paper labels, security and packaging sectors, in addition to the textile and garment label markets.
Having experienced financial pressures arising from a range of external issues, the company had engaged in discussions with its financial institution over potential support. According to CY Group Director Justin Brown, the business had been particularly impacted by the US attack on Iran earlier this year, which resulted in delayed payments from customers.
Brown continued: “The directors were unable to obtain further support from their bank, and have made the difficult decision to cease trading and to appoint administrators to preserve the position for the company’s creditors.”
The company ceased trading, with all 21 employees made redundant, upon the appointment of the joint administrators, who are now actively seeking a buyer for its business and assets.
Assets available as a result of Focus Label Machinery’s collapse include a 1.06 acre freehold property with two units in Bingham, Nottinghamshire, plant and machinery, current work in progress, a wide range of spare parts, a vehicle and IP/goodwill, including the company’s customer list, website and historic designs.
The sale process is being managed by MGR Appraisals, with viewing by appointment only. The deadline for the best and final offer has been set as 4pm on Tuesday, August 11.
MGR Appraisals reported that, in the year to May 31 2025, Focus Label Machinery generated turnover of £2.6 million.
In accounts for that year, the company’s fixed assets were valued at slightly over £1 million and current assets at approximately £1.3 million, while net assets totalled around £1.4 million.
