An opportunity to acquire the assets of a West Midlands-based metal fabrication manufacturer has arisen after liquidators were appointed to the business. Troax Lee Manufacturing Limited is a manufacturer of metal partitioning and mesh wall systems.
The company, which is part of the wider Troax Group and a wholly owned subsidiary of Troax (UK) Limited, was founded in 1990. It is a market leading operator that has developed and manufactured commercial metal partitioning systems for a wide range of customers.
Despite steady profitability, Troax Lee Manufacturing has faced significant energy cost rises over recent years that have materially increased its cost base, subsequently placing considerable pressure on its margins.
As a result, the Kingswinford-based company entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation after facing sustained financial pressures and being unable to secure the additional funding required to continue operating.
The joint provisional liquidators, who are now seeking buyers for the company’s assets, said that the business “had an excellent reputation in the sector” and that they had already seen strong interest in its assets from a number of parties. Assets available include a large amount of unencumbered plant and machinery.
The joint provisional liquidators added: “Sadly, it was not possible to rescue the company as a going concern and there was no alternative to liquidation in the circumstances. Our focus now is on realising the assets of the company in order to deliver a return to creditors, as well as supporting the employees who have been made redundant in making their claims to the Redundancy Payments Service.”
In accounts for the year to December 31 2024, Troax Lee Manufacturing Limited reported turnover of around £9.5 million, up from £8.4 million a year earlier, but saw its retained earnings drop from £2.5 million to £1.9 million.
At the time, its fixed assets were valued at £1.1 million and current assets at approximately £3 million, with net assets totalling £2 million.
