Administrators are seeking a buyer for certain assets, including the trademarks and recipes, of a Greater Manchester-based premium spirits brand. Zymurgorium Limited ceased trading in the final quarter of 2025, with administrators appointed to the company in late March 2026.
Based in the town of Hyde, Zymurgorium was known for its range of beers, ciders, gins, liqueurs, tequilas, rums and vodkas, as well as its eye-catching packaging. It has been nominated for a number of awards, including the People’s Choice Wine Awards in 2021 and the Grocer Magazine Awards in 2024.
In addition to its distillery operations, the company’s drinks were sold by major retailers including Tesco and B&M and it also operated the Project Halcyon cocktail bar in the St John's area of Manchester. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company repositioned to the production of alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
Having been working with the stakeholders of Zymurgorium Limited since February 2026, administrators were able to complete a sale of the assets of the Project Halcyon bar to a third-party buyer following their appointment, in a deal that means the venue will shortly reopen.
However, the joint administrators are actively continuing to seek a buyer for certain assets, including the company’s trademarks and recipes, which they describe as what “made it such a distinctive brand”.
In accounts for the year to December 31 2024, Zymurgorium Limited’s fixed assets were valued at £1.2 million and current assets at approximately £2.9 million, with net assets totalling around £3.5 million. At the time, the company employed 14 staff.
