Rappor, a transport-led engineering and environmental consultancy, is set to target expansion through M&A after securing a multimillion-pound investment from BGF. The funding will support the expansion of the company’s footprint across the UK, the growth of its team and the broadening of its service offering to clients.
Cheltenham-headquartered Rappor supports more than 700 clients across strategic land, public sector, residential, commercial, retail and industrial projects, helping them to navigate the planning process and progress developments from initial concepts all the way to delivery.
Since it was established by founder Adam Padmore in 2014, the company has expanded into a 95-strong consultancy with a strong nationwide presence. In addition to its Cheltenham headquarters, the company has offices in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Bedford.
Backed by BGF, the company will now look to continue expanding its regional presence, invest further in its capabilities and people and explore M&A opportunities that complement its existing services and add extra value to clients and partners.
BGF’s investment will see Monica Collings join the company as chair, bringing extensive experience in scaling professional services businesses working at the intersection between energy and the built environment. Collings was sourced through BGF’s Talent Network.
Former Hydrock Managing Director Matt Hilton will join as COO, while former Hydrock Chief Financial Officer Mike Yiannis will take the CFO role.
Adam Padmore, founder and CEO at Rappor, said: "We support clients at a critical stage in the planning process and beyond, helping them move projects forward with confidence across the built environment.”
"As planning policy becomes more demanding and environmental requirements evolve, our role is becoming increasingly important to achieving outcomes which balance project viability and delivering more sustainable communities.”
"BGF’s backing allows us to continue our growth trajectory, invest further in our team and build out the services our clients need. We’ve found a partner in BGF that understands the pace and nature of our growth, making them a strong fit for the next stage."
Alex Garfitt, partner at BGF, commented: "Rappor has built an excellent reputation in environmental consulting, with a clear focus on delivering high-quality service and building long-term client relationships. The business is well positioned at the front end of the planning process, where demand for specialist expertise is growing."
