A Yorkshire law firm is set to continue its expansion across the UK after securing an eight-figure funding package from HSBC UK. Established in 1993 with a single office in Wakefield, Switalskis now has 12 locations across Yorkshire and London, employing more than 380 staff.
The funding from HSBC UK will be used to support the firm’s further growth across the UK, as it seeks to extend its nationwide presence in a strategy spearheaded by M&A activity. As part of its ongoing growth plan, the company has bolstered its leadership team with the addition of ten new directors over the past year, as well as recently opening a new office in Grimsby.
Over the next 12 months, Switalskis is targeting a 20 per cent increase in turnover, through a combination of strategic M&A activity, client base growth and investments in its workforce.
John Durkan, Chief Executive at Switalskis, commented: "This funding has allowed us to accelerate our growth strategy and fulfil the vision that we've had for the business since we started the company.”
"Switalskis' mission has always been to remain committed to first-class client care, invest in our people, and ensure we continue providing the highest level of service to our clients."
Mike Edwards, Relationship Director at HSBC UK, added: "The demand for Switalskis services has increased significantly over the last few years and it's fantastic to see the business capitalise on this with ambitious growth plans.”
"We look forward to seeing this next chapter for Switalskis as the business targets further expansion throughout the UK."
In accounts for the year to March 31 2025, Switalskis Solicitors Limited reported turnover of £30.8 million, up slightly from £30.2 million a year earlier, while EBITDA dipped from £6.8 million to £6.4 million as a result of investment in infrastructure and director headcount.
Despite abundant opportunities for acquisitive growth in the UK legal sector, many mid-sized law firms are hesitant about targeting M&A, often due to misconceptions about the dealmaking process
A reputable Staffordshire solicitors’ firm is on the market for acquisition as the partners plan for retirement.
The company is a RICS-registered consultancy, with RICS and RTPI members providing specialist, expert-led advice for planning, surveying, estate management and due diligence in the UK and ROI.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire the intellectual property assets of a reputable financial advisory services company, established for over a decade.
