A Halifax-based timber carpentry supplier has been acquired out of administration by a connected company. Heywood Rooftruss Company Limited, which supplied timber roof trusses, fell into administration in July 2025, with Martyn Rickels and Anthony Collier of FRP Advisory appointed as joint administrators.
In accounts for the year to October 31 2023, the company reported turnover of around £10.1 million, down from £10.6 million a year earlier, but increased its operating profit from £1 million to £1.3 million. Its total equity at the time amounted to approximately £1.4 million.
The company has now been acquired out of administration by Heywood Timber Engineering in a sale co-ordinated by the joint administrators for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition ensures that 44 jobs at Heywood Rooftruss have been saved.
The two companies have formally merged upon completion of the deal, with the newly combined business led by Managing Director Andrew Fletcher and Operations Director Dominic Farley.
Heywood Timber Engineering, which was founded in 2005, designs, manufactures and installs timber-framed buildings, in addition to providing flooring and roofing products for the construction sector. The company is a prominent supplier of engineered wood products across the North of England, with the capacity to design and produce 80,000 units and up to 1,000 timber frame buildings each year.
Following the merger, Andrew Fletcher commented: “We are pleased to welcome Heywood Rooftruss to the Heywood Timber Engineering stable. The team’s expertise is already adding value to our clients, and we are looking forward to growing the business and our reach.”
The Corporate and Commercial team at Bury and Bolton law firm Clough & Willis, who provided business and asset sale advice on matters including the company structure, revision of shareholdings and property elements.
The team was led by Clough & Willis partner Andy Herricks, who described the deal as a “natural fit” and said: “Andrew and the team at Heywood Timber Engineering are experts in their field and have built a business with an enviable reputation in the construction sector.”
