Notul Ltd (Mway Comms), a highways technology and communications infrastructure specialist, has been acquired by Equans UK & Ireland through its Digital & Energy Services Division.
Rotherham-headquartered Mway Comms, which was founded in 2001, installs and maintains critical technology and communications infrastructure assets across the UK’s strategic road network.
Equans, which is based in the North East and is part of the Bouygues Group, is a global energy and services business, providing public and private sector clients with integrated technical, digital and facilities services.
The acquisition of Mway Comms is set to further strengthen the company’s UK transport infrastructure capabilities.
Mway Comms has been under the stewardship of Stephen Crawford and Lee Day since 2017 and, in that time, has established itself as a key supplier to National Highways across a range of frameworks. The £26 million-turnover company employs 100 staff.

Mway’s shareholders were advised by Debrett’s, who helped to identify key buyers across the UK highway’s sector. The Debrett’s team was headed by infrastructure leads James England and Sebastian Rowlands and supported by Will Mason and Zoe Hacking.

England added that the deal was Debrett’s' sixth infrastructure services deal over recent months, demonstrating the scale of interest in the market, as well as the firm’s expertise in the sector.
