A major facilities management company based in Kidderminster has been acquired out of administration in a deal that secures approximately 400 jobs.
Phosters (FM) Limited fell into administration in June 2026, appointing Rob Keyes and David Taylor of KRE Corporate Recovery as joint administrators, but has now been acquired by Cambridge Maintenance Services.
The company provides ‘total’ and outsourced facilities management services, with capabilities spanning operational, technical, commercial, environmental and strategic business aspects.
Phosters’ services are wide-ranging and it supports large and small businesses across the UK and Europe across a diverse range of markets. Its core offering covers cleaning, hygiene services, planned and reactive building maintenance, mechanical and electrical works, lift maintenance, landscaping, security and air conditioning.
Additionally, the firm also provides wider workplace support services, including grounds maintenance, interior plant services, call-out centres and mail rooms, to organisations across numerous industries.
In accounts for the year to December 31 2024, Phosters (FM) Limited reported turnover of £29.4 million, down from £39.8 million a year earlier, while falling to a pre-tax loss of £1.9 million, compared to an operating profit of £2.4 million.
In those accounts, the company’s directors said that the business had faced “a challenging year”, primarily as a result of “a reduction in the volume and scope of several key contracts”. This contributed to a decline in revenue, which, combined with inflationary pressures such as wage increases, impacted profitability and overall financial performance.
After falling into administration on June 6 2026, the company has now been sold to Cambridge Maintenance Services, part of the Mesia group of companies, as a going concern. The deal includes the transfer of all Phosters employees, enabling services to continue for customers across the UK and Europe.
