Linsco Limited, a longstanding recruitment agency focused on the construction sector, has been acquired by AMC Private Equity, a private equity firm specialising in the property and recruitment sectors. AMC’s backing of Linsco is aimed at helping the company’s plan to become the UK’s largest construction-focused recruitment agency.
Operating in the sector for 47 years, Nottingham-based Linsco has been described as one of England’s oldest recruitment agencies in the construction space. In the year to March 31 2025, the company reported turnover of £32.4 million and an operating profit of around £1.1 million, up slightly from the previous year.
AMC Private Equity’s acquisition of Linsco was supported by a £6.75 million invoice discounting facility and loan from independent SME funding provider Bibby Financial Services (BFS). The investment from BFS will assist the growth plans of both Linsco and AMC.
Jeff Cruddington, partner of AMC Private Equity Ltd, said: "BFS supported us at every stage of the process. From the outset, they took the time to get to know our business and develop a clear understanding of our goals, ultimately creating a funding facility which was precisely tailored to our needs.”
AMC chose BFS as its partner as a result of the firm’s sector-specific expertise, speed of response and ability to work alongside a number of third parties. Cruddington cited BFS’s “speed and efficiency”, which helped to drive the completion of the Linsco acquisition in under two months.
Pinnacle Business Finance made an initial introduction through Mike Stevens, Business Development Manager for the South West at BFS. The deal was subsequently led by BFS Corporate Business Development Manager Glenn Souter.
Souter said that AMC’s “ambitious growth strategy, combined with our team's expertise in the construction and recruitment sectors, has created a strong foundation for success.”
The recruitment sector is continuing to see strong M&A activity, despite a challenging jobs market
