Allied Pharmacies has acquired a further 68 Jhoots sites in a pre-pack administration sale, adding to the 60 Jhoots locations that it acquired in November 2025. A significant number of entities associated with Jhoots have entered administration over recent months, many of them trading companies operating single pharmacy locations.
The vast majority of sites operating under the Jhoots Pharmacy and Jhoots Chemist brands remain temporarily closed, with the businesses reported to have been impacted by a broader range of challenges facing the pharmacy sector.
While most sites remain closed, Allied Pharmacies has reiterated its commitment to reinstating essential pharmacy services, with the latest deal having now brought the majority of Jhoots’ more than 150 UK pharmacies under its ownership. The portfolio of pharmacies was sold for an undisclosed amount.
Suhail Abdullah, Group Chief Executive of Allied Pharmacies, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Jhoots sites into the Allied family, adding to the recent portfolio acquisition of the associated SNJ group.”
"This acquisition reflects our group's core values of patient care and community service, and we look forward to driving innovation in pharmacy services."
The sale of the 68 locations was handled by Christie & Co director and Head of Pharmacy Jonathan Board, who said that the transaction ensures “that a large number of much-needed front-line healthcare settings are reopened to patients who rely on them.”
Board said that Christie & Co had once again worked closely with Ian Corfield and Charlie Dagworthy of FRP Advisory on the accelerated sale process, which he said had secured "a highly experienced buyer in Allied Pharmacies who has the capability and desire to get these 68 pharmacies back up and running in the shortest time possible.”
He added that the deal “highlights the strength and resilience of the UK pharmacy sector and the opportunities for growth through strategic partnerships."
Ian Corfield, FRP Advisory partner and joint administrator of Jhoots Pharmacy and Jhoots Chemist, said: "Pharmacies play a crucial role in both the UK healthcare system and on the community high street, so we are pleased to have once again partnered with the market-leading specialists Christie & Co to secure a new home for these sites.”
In group accounts for the year to December 31 2023, Jhoots Pharmacy Limited reported turnover of £21.4 million, up from £10.6 million a year earlier, but fell from an operating profit of around £574,000 to a loss of approximately £5.6 million.
At the time, its fixed assets were valued at £16.3 million and current assets at £16.1 million, but net liabilities slightly exceeded £1 million.
