National accountancy and advisory group AAB has expanded its financial planning division with the acquisition of two firms based in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The acquisitions of BpH Wealth Management and Jane Smith Financial Planning take AAB Wealth’s staff headcount to more than 130 colleagues across the UK.
Following regulatory approval, both businesses will rebrand to AAB Wealth, with the deals taking the division’s total number of transactions up to seven since 2023.
BpH Wealth Management was founded by Michael Freedman ( pictured above, left, with Andrew Dines of AAB Wealth, middle, and Nicola Watts of Jane Smith Financial Planning, right) in 1984 and employs more than 20 people. Freedman said that joining AAB Wealth would strengthen the company’s ability to deliver its client-focused services.
He continued: "With the additional expertise, resources and support of the wider team, we can continue to offer thoughtful, personal advice while helping clients navigate an increasingly complex financial landscape."
Established in 1994 by Jane Smith, Olney-based Jane Smith Financial Planning comprises a five-person team, now led by Smith’s daughter – certified financial planner Nicola Watts.
Watts said: "Joining AAB Wealth gives us the opportunity to further develop the services we offer to clients while preserving the client-first ethos that defines our business. It was important for us to find a strong cultural fit with another accredited financial planning firm that shares our commitment to true financial planning.”
"The scale, infrastructure and continued investment in technology across AAB will enhance the service we provide, while allowing the team here in Olney to remain focused on delivering the high-quality financial planning that sits at the heart of what we do."
Andrew Dines, head of AAB Wealth, said that the addition of the two firms was “another major milestone” in the division’s growth.
Dines continued: "Reaching £2.5bn in assets under advice and expanding our team to over 130 talented professionals demonstrates the strength of our proposition and the demand for a modern, progressive personal financial planning business.”
Dines said that BpH Wealth Management and Jane Smith Financial Planning would each bring expertise, cultural alignment and a commitment to delivering strong client outcomes through AAB Wealth’s sustainable investment approach.
