Indoor activity park operator Oxygen Activeplay has acquired the company behind five Ninja Warrior UK sites. The acquisition of Leisure Television Rights Ltd and its sites in Bristol, Liverpool, Teesside, Leeds and Walsall increases Oxygen Activeplay’s portfolio to 18 parks.
The addition of the Ninja Warrior UK brand, which is managed by the UK’s ITV Studios on behalf of Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, brings together two of the UK's leading brands in family-focused indoor leisure.
The five Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Parks will join a portfolio of activity parks and brands which includes ten Oxygen Activeplay parks, RedKangaroo parks in Nottingham and Coventry and Boost Leicester.
The deal follows a period of strong trading for Oxygen Activeplay, which has completed a string of successful acquisitions, opened a new park in Manchester’s MediaCity and saw record-breaking summer sales, with a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in visitors.
Since being acquired by Literacy Capital in 2021, Oxygen Activeplay has expanded through both strategic M&A and new park developments, building a diverse portfolio of parks across the UK.
Oxygen Activeplay Chief Executive Stephen Wilson described the latest deal as a “major step forward” in the firm’s “goal to redefine the indoor leisure sector in the UK.”
He continued: “Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Parks is a well-known and loved brand across the country and perfectly complements our ethos of creating fun and inclusive experiences for families that encourage staying active through play.”
Wilson added that the deal “marks not just an expansion of our footprint, but a deepening of our commitment to bring Activeplay to even more communities across the UK.”
Lou Black, SVP, brand licensing, ITV Studios, said that Oxygen Activeplay’s “reputation for delivering dynamic, people-focused experiences makes them a perfect fit for the brand”.
