Administrators secure sale of West Yorkshire heat treatment specialist

Administrators from RSM UK Restructuring Advisory have secured the sale of a West Yorkshire-based heat treatment specialist, in a deal that safeguards more than 30 jobs.

MTE Heat Treatment Limited fell into administration on February 24 2026, with Lee Lockwood and Gareth Harris of RSM UK appointed as joint administrators.

The Slaithwaite-based company is a provider of precision engineering services, including heat treatment, surface treatments, induction hardening and gear cutting.

Prior to entering administration, the company had experienced persistent cash flow problems, stemming from a historic fire and increased debt levels that had arisen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon their appointment, the joint administrators continued to trade the company, while actively marketing the business and its assets for sale.

This process ultimately resulted in the successful sale of the business and its assets to Metal Treatment and Engineering Ltd, a subsidiary of Time To ACT plc, securing more than 30 jobs and ensuring continuity of supply for MTE Heat Treatment’s customers.

In accounts for the year to December 31 2024, MTE Heat Treatment Limited’s fixed assets were valued at £1.9 million and current assets at £1.7 million, with net assets amounting to approximately £1.8 million.
