A Derbyshire-based advanced composites manufacturer has been acquired by a Swedish group. Axvik’s acquisition of Pentaxia Limited extends its UK composites capabilities, complementing its existing UK business, Slingsby Advanced Composites.
Founded in 2008 and operating from a 70,000 sq ft purpose-built facility in Derby, Pentaxia manufactures advanced composites used in the defence, aerospace, automotive and motorsport industries.
The company is a specialist in advanced composites and precision engineering, offering a complete composite solution. The firm’s services span tooling design, project management, manufacturing and complex composites component assembly.
In the year to April 30 2025, Pentaxia Limited reported turnover of close to £10.5 million, up from £10.3 million a year earlier, while cutting its operating losses from £437,000 to slightly under £35,000.
Axvik is a group of specialised companies developing critical components and systems for the defence and aerospace industries.
Alongside Slingsby Advanced Composites, Pentaxia will bring complementary expertise across composite materials and manufacturing techniques into the group. Following the acquisition, both Pentaxia and Slingsby will continue to operate under their own brands.
Axvik Group was advised on the acquisition by London law firm Mackrell LLP. The Mackrell LLP team was led by partner and Head of Corporate Maung Aye, working alongside corporate partner Harriet Jones with specialist support from colleagues across the firm.
