Rotron Aerospace Limited, a UK-based advanced defence technology company, has been acquired by US-based autonomous aerial and ground robot intelligence provider Ondas Inc. in a deal advised on by a team from Quercus International.
Dorset-based Rotron Aerospace was founded in 2008 and is a developer of innovative, high-performance, advanced unmanned aerial systems, long-range autonomous platforms and complementary propulsion systems.
The acquisition is described as strengthening Ondas’ offering to the defence and security sector through an enhanced system-of-systems architecture. This expanded offering incorporates autonomous strike platforms, long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, integrated command-and-control technologies and advanced propulsion and engineering capabilities, along with an established UK market presence.
The deal, which is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, was called “a transformative milestone for Rotron and our vision for the future of unmanned systems” by company founder Gilo Cardozo.
Cardozo continued: "By combining our propulsion and aerial platform expertise with Ondas’ autonomous systems architecture and global reach, we will create powerful synergies that will accelerate the delivery of next-generation defence solutions.”
“We are excited to leverage Ondas’ deep resources and scale to bring our mission-specific platforms to a broader global stage, providing defence forces with the innovative, cost-effective capabilities required on the modern battlefield."
Ondas Inc. Chairman and CEO Eric Brock said: "Modern conflicts demand systems that can operate at range, persist over time, and execute missions without continuous human control. Rotron Aero will strengthen Ondas’ ability to deliver longârange autonomous attack platforms as part of a fully integrated systemâofâsystems.”
Brock added that the deal would accelerate Ondas’ roadmap towards “providing customers with endâtoâend autonomous mission capability, from sensing and decisionâmaking through long-range precision engagement."
