Secure communications provider Westica Communications has been acquired by Aliter-backed Serbus. The acquisition represents the fourth deal that Serbus has completed since 2022.
Glasgow-based Westica Communications was founded in 1994 and has more than thirty years of experience in the provision of specialist secure radio network communications. The company has built a strong reputation as a provider of wireless communications, critical network infrastructure and secure connectivity solutions for customers operating in some of the UK's most demanding industries.
The firm is a specialist in the design, deployment and support of microwave and UHF/VHF radio networks, cyber-secure networking, infrastructure and critical communications systems.
The acquisition sees Serbus, which has offices in Hereford and Milton Keynes, expand its offering across critical national infrastructure (CNI), utilities, blue light services, oil and gas, government, transport and enterprise.
Post-acquisition, Westica Communications directors Stevie Dynes and Andy Hunwicks (pictured above, left to right) will remain with the business and work closely alongside Serbus and Aliter.
Serbus Group Chief Executive Simon Fieldhouse called the acquisition an important step for the firm as it builds “a business to meet the increasing needs of CNI customers.”
He continued: "Sector expertise and a focus on security, operational health and safety, and compliance is core to the Serbus strategy, and we recognise in Westica the same commitment to resilience, reliability and customer service.”
"The addition of Westica to our group extends our security DNA and strengthens our mission to connect and protect the services that matter most."
According to Westica’s Stevie Dynes, the company’s success has been built on “technical expertise, responsiveness and customer relationships”, foundations he says joining Serbus will enable the firm to build on, while investing further in the future.
He continued: "We are excited about the additional capabilities and opportunities this partnership will create for our customers and colleagues moving forward."
Serbus is aiming to become a market leading presence in B2B critical network and ICT infrastructure managed services within the UK CNI sector.
In the year to September 30 2025, Serbus Group Limited reported turnover of £33.8 million, up from £16.9 million a year earlier, while recovering from an operating loss of slightly over £235,000 to post an operating profit of close to £856,000.
