Accountancy and business advisory group Azets has entered Northern Ireland with the acquisition of Muldoon, an accountancy practice based in Belfast. Following the acquisition, Muldoon will immediately be rebranded as Azets.
According to Azets, the deal will enhance its ability to support clients across Ireland, Northern Ireland and the wider UK, enabling broader collaboration, specialist expertise and connectivity across the group.
Muldoon, which employs a team of more than 40 staff, is led by Managing Partner Raymond Tiffney, alongside Sean Muldoon and Robbie Barr. The firm provides tax, audit and advisory services to a client base of more than 860 businesses across a wide range of sectors.
Raymond Tiffney, Sean Muldoon and Robbie Barr will remain with the company post-acquisition, as part of a transition that will see clients continue to work with the same advisers and teams, while benefitting from access to broader specialist expertise, wider capabilities and increased scale.
Tiffney described the deal as “an important and positive step for our business, our people and our clients.”
He continued: “Throughout this process, what mattered most to us was finding a partner that aligned with our culture, values and client-first approach. We believe we have found that in Azets.”
“Joining Azets gives us access to broader specialist expertise, deeper capability and increased investment, while preserving the relationships and local approach that define Muldoon today.”
Azets described the acquisition as one that provides a foothold for further growth in Northern Ireland, with Azets UK & Ireland CEO Peter Gallanagh calling Muldoon “a highly respected business with a strong reputation, excellent people and deep client relationships.”
Gallanagh continued: “This partnership strengthens our UK and Ireland business and establishes our first presence in Northern Ireland through a firm that shares our relationship-led approach, long-term mindset and commitment to clients.”
Azets Ireland CEO Neil Hughes added that there is “a very strong alignment between our firms in how we support clients, develop our people and think about long-term growth”.
