A broadband provider based in Hampshire has passed 150,000 connections after agreeing a deal to acquire the customer base of a full-fibre network wholesaler. The acquisition sees Whiteley-based Onestream acquire the customer contracts brand and domain of Cuckoo from APFN.
The deal provides Onestream with access to a wider full-fibre portfolio, including CityFibre and Openreach, as well as APFN’s own assets. Post-acquisition, all connections will remain on APFN's Aquila wholesale platform.
Onestream has already completed full API integration into Aquila, which will enable rapid onboarding, in addition to future scalability. Following the acquisition, the company will benefit from continued development of the Aquila platform, providing access to more services and capabilities.
Onestream, which was founded in 2016, signs up an average of 3,000 customers each month. In the year to December 31 2024, Onestream Limited reported turnover of approximately £22 million, up from around £16.9 million a year earlier, while moving from an operating loss of £994,000 to a profit of slightly over £76,000.
Steve Evans, Managing Director at Onestream, said that the deal “opens up full access to a broader full-fibre portfolio and everything APFN has to offer, while doubling our base to reach 150,000 customers.”
He continued: "For customers, it means wider access to full-fibre and high-speed broadband throughout the UK, as well as the opportunity to take advantage of our competitive pricing.”
Nisreen El-kaloush, Chief Commercial Officer at APFN, commented: “APFN was built to give the Channel a simple, more modern route to market. Aquila brings this to life by unifying leading fibre and Ethernet networks into a simple marketplace that includes automation, service visibility and API-driven workflows.”
“This long-term partnership gives Onestream full access to everything Aquila has to offer. We are excited to enter this new chapter together – creating a more streamlined, scalable experience for ISPs, MSPs, resellers and wholesalers across the UK.”
