London-based Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) provider Celnor Group has completed its latest acquisition with a deal for Stockport-based environmental and sustainability consultancy Envance.
The acquisition is Celnor’s seventh in the North since it was founded two years ago, following deals for Manchester businesses Concept Environmental and Urban Green, Chester-based Arbtech and Brownfield Solutions, MSS in Derby and two northern offices for APEC Environmental.
Following the acquisition, Envance will join the group’s Built Environment division. Founded in 2020, Envance helps organisations to centralise sustainability in their projects, providing end-to-end environmental and sustainability services.
The company’s services include ESG strategy, carbon and climate planning, ecology and biodiversity assessments, biodiversity net gain (BNG), natural capital valuation, environmental compliance and permitting, as well as digital tool development for monitoring and reporting.
Envance’s services span the entire project lifecycle, ranging from strategy and assessments to on-the-ground solutions. The company works across sectors including infrastructure, planning, corporate sustainability and development.
Envance director Erica Kemp said: “Joining Celnor represents a huge opportunity for Envance. Our mission has always been to help clients transition effectively to greener solutions. Working alongside Celnor’s other member companies will allow us to scale up our impact, reach more projects, and deliver even greater value for sustainability outcomes.”
Celnor Group, which was founded in 2023 by Simon Parrington and is backed by Inflexion Private Equity, is among the UK’s most acquisitive companies. Since it was founded, the company has grown to an international group generating £200 million in revenue, with 35 specialist companies and a team of 2,000 staff across 60 locations and six countries.
Celnor provides essential data, consultancy and insights to more than 7,000 clients, with the group’s model centring on four divisions: Built Environment, Safety & Compliance, Risk Management and Analytical Sciences.
The group’s M&A strategy sees it target, acquire and integrate specialist, entrepreneur-led businesses. It then provides the infrastructure to help these firms accelerate their growth, including M&A support, HR, finance, IT strategy and marketing.
Commenting on the acquisition of Envance, founder and CEO Simon Parrington said: “Their sustainability-focused approach and deep technical expertise make them a natural fit for our Built Environment division. By investing in the team and working with other Celnor member companies, we can deliver solutions for a wide variety of clients that not only meet the highest technical standards but also create lasting positive outcomes for the environment.”
