Sable Cottage Nursing Home has been acquired by JAS Care Homes, led by Arun Jothinath, for an undisclosed sum, with outgoing owner Sunil Patel leaving the sector to pursue new opportunities.
Sable Cottage is located in Kelsall, near Tarporley, and provides specialist residential, nursing, dementia, day and respite care. The home, which has space for up to 38 residents, has a Care Quality Commission rating of Good.
Montane Care Agent Darren Edwards stated that the home has “a culture of dignity, choice and engagement” that would serve as a solid foundation for its incoming new owner.
Commenting on the sale, Edwards said: “This successful transfer of Sable Cottage illustrates the dynamic nature of the care sector today. Experienced operators like Mr Patel are choosing to exit at the right time, while new operators like Mr Jothinath bring fresh energy, ambition and a commitment to preserving and evolving quality of care.”
“The deal also demonstrates that, with the right professional support, first-time buyers and expanding operators can navigate challenges with confidence and assume responsibility for well operated, mission driven homes.”
Edwards added that new owner Arun Jothinath “entered the purchase with clarity of vision, mindful of the responsibility inherent in acquiring a nursing home.”
Matthew Dootson, of Clarke Willmott, and Jonathan Hill, of Shakespeare Martineau, provided legal advice on the transaction to Mr Patel and Mr Jothinath, respectively.
